As a third generation custom home builder, building runs deep in Scott’s DNA. Learning the trade of custom craftsmanship from his Grandfather and Dad, Scott is continuing the family tradition of building in West Michigan.

Scott is a graduate of South Christian Schools. He attended Ferris State University on a football scholarship and later transferred to Davenport University where he completed his degree in Marketing and Business Management.

After spending some time framing Scott felt a call to use his skills in missions. In 2010 he took a year assignment with YWAM (Youth With a Mission) where he served as the maintenance director in New Zealand.

Upon returning to Michigan, Scott took an assignment with a concrete company learning the techniques of ensuring a strong foundation. While he enjoyed the work, concrete made Scott realize how much he enjoyed building.

In 2015, Scott returned to building, starting his own company, Scott Hekstra Builders. Since then Scott learning the art of contracting from his dad, Mike Hekstra. In 2018, Scott began contracting custom homes.
